Tutoring Center

A tutor does:

• Promote independence in learning
• Facilitate students’ insights and light bulb moments
• Make an effort to reinforce classroom methods
• Respect individual differences
• Make sure the concepts are understood
• Model good learning habits

A tutor does not:

• Teach or lecture class material
• Contradict instructors’ methods
• Know everything
• Do the work for the student
• Help on quizzes or tests

学生 Expectations

1. 学生s need to know their 学生 ID number.
2. 学生s should set all electronic devices to silent. If you must answer your cell phone, please leave the Tutoring Center before answering the call.
3. Computers in the Tutoring Center are for study and class activities only. 学生s should not surf the internet or send personal emails from these computers. 的 Open Computer Lab in the Library may be used for more general purposes.
4. Please do your part to keep the noise level low so others can concentrate.
5. Please be respectful towards peers and staff.
6. Please eat meals outside of the Tutoring Center to help maintain a clean working area.
7. 的 success of the visit depends on the collaboration between the student and tutor. 的 tutor will not do the work for the student. 学生s should come prepared to answer questions and discuss their assignment.
8. 学生s should bring notes, 书, and any other resources provided by the instructor, as well as the assignment.
9. 学生s should respect the tutors. 的y circulate to assist students as soon as possible. If a student is waiting for help, the student needs to work on something else until the tutor can assist.
